Bings Bakery: 80 Years, Three Commercials

Eighty Years, Three Commercials, and One Very Excited Production Crew

When Bings Bakery in Newark, Delaware called us at Bright Lights Media to help them mark their 80th anniversary, we said yes before the question fully landed. Eighty years is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone — and for a family-run bakery that has fed generations of Delawareans, it deserved more than a single ad spot. It deserved a love letter.

So that’s what we made. Three of them.

This is the story of how a video production company based in West Chester, PA loaded into a bus, drove down to Newark, and spent days capturing the sights, smells, and people behind the longest-running bakery in Delaware.

A Returning Client With Proven ROI

This wasn’t our first project with Bings. About a year ago, our team produced a brand video introducing the bakery’s new coffee shop concept — a piece designed to show off the way Bings was evolving without losing the warmth that built the place. That video performed exactly the way good brand content is supposed to: it drove real foot traffic, it gave the team something they could re-cut and re-use across channels, and it generated a return on investment that made the conversation about the next project easy.

When the phone rang again, we already knew the family, the building, the rhythms of the kitchen. We could skip past the introductions and get straight to the strategy. That continuity is one of the underrated benefits of working with a local video production company in the West Chester PA and Delaware region — once a creative partner knows your brand, every project after the first one gets sharper, faster, and more efficient.

The Concept: Three Pillars, Three Videos

For an 80-year milestone, one video would have been too small a frame. Together with the Bings team, we landed on a three-pillar concept — three short films that each tell a different chapter of the same story.

Pillar 1: The Family Behind the Bakery

A bakery that lasts 80 years isn’t built on flour and sugar. It’s built on the people who show up every morning before the sun does, generation after generation. The first video centers on the family — the names above the door and the hands that keep the ovens going.

Pillar 2: The Nostalgia of a Bakery That Has Run That Long

Walk into Bings and you smell decades. That sensory memory — warm bread, cinnamon, vanilla, butter — is the kind of thing that pulls people in from the parking lot before they even know why. The second video is a love letter to that feeling, and to anyone who has stood at the counter with a memory of their grandparents in the same spot.

📽 Commercial #2 — The Nostalgia

Pillar 3: A Thank You to Delaware

Eighty years of business is eighty years of customers showing up. The third video is a straight-up thank-you note to the people of Delaware — the daily regulars, the wedding cake clients, the weekend pastry runs, the kids who became adults who became parents bringing their own kids in.

Pre-Production: Scripts, Music, and a Shot List That Earned Its Keep

Before a single camera came out of a case, our team wrote the scripts for all three videos, identified the music that would carry each piece, and built a day-of shot list designed to maximize a tight shoot window. For a project this layered — interviews, beauty shots, drone work, overnight footage — pre-production is the difference between a smooth shoot and a stressful one. Every shot we knew we needed for the edit was on the list before we left the office.

If you’re researching local video production companies in West Chester, PA, the surrounding Chester County area, or anywhere across Delaware, this is the part that often separates a strong production team from a hire-a-camera operation. The shoot day is the visible part. The planning is the part that makes the shoot day actually work.

Loading Up the Bright Lights Bus and Heading to Newark, DE

When the shoot week arrived, our crew packed gear, snacks, and a healthy amount of caffeine into the Bright Lights bus and made the run from West Chester to Newark, Delaware. Being a short drive from greater Wilmington, the Delaware Valley, and the entire surrounding region means we can be on-site with a full production team almost anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic before lunch. For local brands looking for a Delaware video production company that won’t blow the budget on travel and lodging, that proximity matters.

Once we arrived, we got to work.

On Set: Drones, Desserts, Interviews, and an Overnight Shift

Here’s a quick tour of what we captured for Bings.

Drone Cinematography

We launched the drone for aerial coverage of the bakery and the neighborhood that has grown up around it over eight decades. Sweeping exteriors give an anniversary piece scale — they remind viewers that this isn’t just a building, it’s a landmark.

Beauty Shots of the Desserts

Every cake, donut, pastry, and loaf got the macro treatment. Slow, deliberate camera moves. Soft light. Real steam coming off real bread. We may or may not have taste-tested some of the best treats in the case as part of our quality-assurance process. Strictly professional, of course.

Interviews With Family, Customers, and Staff

The emotional spine of all three videos comes from the people. We interviewed members of the Bings family, longtime loyal customers who have been walking through the door for decades, and the bakers and staff who keep the place running today. The interviews captured raw, unscripted reactions — exactly the kind of honest moments that make commercial work feel like documentary, not advertising. Those snippets ended up driving the script.

Joining the Overnight Bakery Shift

One of the most memorable parts of the shoot: we joined the Bings bakers during their overnight shift. Standing in a working bakery at 2 a.m. — watching dough rise, ovens fire, and a team move in quiet, choreographed rhythm — gave our crew a deeper understanding of the craft and dedication behind every single item on the shelf. That experience changed the edit. You can feel it in the final cut.

Post-Production: Three Long-Form Videos Delivered in Two Weeks

Back in West Chester, our post-production team got to work. Within two weeks, Bings received all three final long-form videos along with shorter commercial cuts built specifically for paid ad placements and social channels. Each video was color-graded, sound-mixed, and tuned for the platforms it would live on — vertical edits for Instagram and TikTok, 16:9 cuts for YouTube and connected TV, square cuts for the Facebook feed.

Tight turnarounds aren’t unusual for us, but a three-video deliverable in fourteen days requires a tight pre-pro plan and an editorial team that knows the footage cold. Both were in place from day one.

Where the Videos Live Now

The three Bings Bakery 80th anniversary videos are now running across the bakery’s social channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), paid digital ad placements, the Bings website, and local marketing campaigns across Newark and the broader Delaware market.

We’ll be embedding the full set below — give them a watch and let us know which pillar hits you hardest.

Why Local Businesses Trust Bright Lights Media for Video Production in West Chester, PA and Delaware

The Bings project is a good snapshot of how we work with local and regional brands across West Chester, PA, Chester County, the Main Line, Newark and Wilmington Delaware, and the wider surrounding region. We build strategy and story before we touch a camera. We staff a full in-house production team — directors, cinematographers, drone pilots, editors, colorists, sound — so nothing gets outsourced and timelines stay tight. We work with the kind of brands that need their video to actually move the business: small businesses, family-owned operations, multi-location regionals, and growing companies that need both brand films and ad-ready cuts. And we design every shoot for repurposing, so a single production day fuels months of content.

If you’re a business owner in West Chester, the surrounding Chester County area, or anywhere across Delaware — and you’ve been thinking about a brand video, a commercial, an anniversary piece, a recruiting film, or a multi-platform ad campaign — we’d love to talk.
